The festival folk sing Joni Mitchell CD is a Joni Mitchell tribute album and the first in the festival folk sing... series  festival folk sing Joni Mitchell started in 2006 when Marina Hurley ran a concert at the Australian National Folk Festival to celebrate the songs and influence of Joni Mitchell. "The reason why I undertook this project is that I often hear people playing her songs but rarely do they perform them, and even more rarely do they record them. There are a huge range of talented musicians and singers that perform at Australia's acoustic and folk music festivals - most of whom are songwriters and therefore do not record a lot of covers. The energy and creativity that has gone into this project is amazing. Almost every song has a fresh arrangement, in keeping with Joni’s complex style, and the choice of songs strongly reflects her talents as a songwriter. I am always interested in hearing how different singers cover the influential songwriters of our time. I have also been involved in the Judy Small, Eric Bogle, Christy Moore, Bob Dylan and Indigo Girls tribute concerts at many Woodford Folk Festivals and other National Folk Festivals, and am interested in doing more."
